Mallam Garba Shehu, who is the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, has explained that the presidency has no reply to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter.
He said this in a telephone chat with our correspondent, adding that he had no comment whatsoever on the 18-page letter revealed at a news conference addressed by Obasanjo on Tuesday.
Obasanjo had advised Buhari to go home and rest, urging him not to seek re-election for the second term in office.
The former president observed among other things, condonation of sharp practices by Buhari’s government, nepotism and clannishness.
He stated that all these had shown that Buhari could not govern the country and that the best way for him was to bow out, go home and rest from public service.
Few hours after Obasanjo addressed a news conference, entitled, “The Way Out: A clarion call for a coalition for Nigeria Movement, the former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tnubu and his counterpart for Osun, Chief Bisi Akande visited Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
The two national leaders of the All Progressives Congress spent about one hour with the president but refused to speak to the press after the meeting.
Meanwhile, Mr Tunde Rahman, the media aide to Tinubu has said that his boss’ visit to Buhari had no connection with Obasanjo’s letter.
